Volunteer Participation
The Great Southern Swimming Club depends on the support of volunteers. The committee are generally parents of swimmers or others with an interest in encouraging junior sport, particularly that of swimming. They carry out the operations of the swimming club on a voluntary basis. We encourage people to take an interest in the running of the club for their children. Ask a committee member if there is anything you can do to help.
Swim Meets and Carnivals
Swimming SA provide referees for each meet and require all clubs to supply other technical officials and timekeepers. It is a requirement for all members to volunteer to fill these roles, as required by the club.
Roles include:-
- Team Manager Organises the swimmers at the meet
- Timekeeper Timing races with a stopwatch
- Official Starter, Check Starter, Judge of Stroke,Marshall, Inspector of Turns, Recorder, AOE
Other duties at our own swim meets and carnivals will include:
- helping to set up shade
- setting up marshaling seats
- setting up officials stations with chairs and tables as required
- helping with food and water runs
- assisting with officials lunches
- pack up
